# Unsubbed

> Find recurring subscriptions hiding in your bank statements. Upload 2–6 months of PDFs, see monthly and yearly spend, decide what to cancel. No account, no stored data.

## What it does

Unsubbed detects recurring charges — streaming services, SaaS, memberships, gym, news, anything that bills on a cadence — from bank-statement PDFs. It reads the statements, groups transactions by merchant, estimates cadence (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual), and shows monthly and yearly spend. The user confirms which groups are actual subscriptions.

## Why Unsubbed

- No bank login or Plaid integration. You upload PDFs; the app never connects to your bank account.
- One-time payment, not a subscription — no recurring charge to see your recurring charges.
- No accounts, no signups, no user database. Close the tab and everything is gone.
- Statements are processed in memory on the server and never written to disk.

## How it works

1. Drop 2–6 months of bank-statement PDFs into the browser.
2. Transactions are extracted from the PDF text via Google Gemini.
3. A deterministic local detector groups them by merchant and scores cadence from day-gap medians.
4. Results are encrypted in the browser. More than two confirmed subscriptions lands behind a one-time paywall; the unlock key lives on the server for thirty minutes, then drops.
5. Close the tab and everything is gone — from us, from the browser, from everywhere.

## Privacy

- No accounts, no logins, no user database.
- Statements are processed in-memory and never written to disk.
- Unlock keys are tab-bound (sessionStorage) and expire in 30 minutes.
- Hosted on Vercel (frontend) and Railway (backend). Analytics via self-hosted Umami — no third-party tracking.

## Pricing

The free tier shows results for up to two confirmed subscriptions. Larger result sets require a one-time unlock via Stripe. No recurring charge to view recurring charges.
